About Kefalonia

With a population of 32,000 Kefalonia or "Cephalonia" is the largest of the Ionian Islands, the capital being the town of Argostóli.

The island is the sixth largest in Greece covering some 737 square kilometres and has 254km of coastline enjoying a typically Mediterranean climate.

The winters are mild, with temperatures usually rising above 5˚c. By contrast, summers are dry and hot with negligible rainfall in July and August. The air temperatures during this time are often greater than 30˚c.

The mountainous nature of the island’s terrain, with its many flowing springs, creates strange geological phenomena. Beautiful rocky shores and sandy beaches surround the island on all sides. Its mild climate with sunshine most of the days of the year, allows visitors to enjoy the sea and its natural beauties.

The Argostóli airport and the seaports of Sámi, and Argostóli, provide for good communications and the development of tourism.
