Visiting Kefalonia

If you book a viewing trip or make your own
arrangements we are happy to look after you either way. The choice is yours. A viewing trip is a very effective and informative way to choose your home in Greece. We can arrange a flight for you from any major Airport. We can organise direct flights between the months of May to October from any major Airport to Kefalonia. There are 25 flights weekly. The flight time is 3 hours. From November to April all flights are via Athens, then a short flight of 40 minutes on to Kefalonia. There is a daily flight from Athens to Kefalonia and a number of flights from the UK to Athens daily. Cost of trip: £300 per person which includes accommodation, and is refundable at the time of final payment if purchase is made.

What you need to take

Once the arrangements for your Greek Viewing trip
are under way it is advisable to provide yourself with the following documentation, in order to get the buying process started in the event of you finding the property of your dreams and taking the plunge. We also recommend that you take out adequate Travel Insurance to cover the visit.

  • Passport
  • E111
  • Deposit of 10% (English Cheque is acceptable)
  • A bank reference stating number of years banking with them

If you will be applying for a Greek Mortgage you will also need the following:

  • 3 Month’s (current) Bank Statements
  • P60 TAX RETURN for last three years

If I take a viewing trip will I be under pressure
to buy?

We can promise you that you will not feel under any obligation to purchase a home. These visits are designed to get you one step closer to purchasing or finding that dream house or location. Without actually visiting the island, you cannot begin the process. We fully understand this and that is why we will show you all Kefalonia has to offer. Beaches, towns, restaurants, marinas. All we ask is, if you do find your dream property, or land location, that you are in a position to proceed. Frankly, Kefalonia will sell itself.

How long it will take?

If you do find just what you are looking for on your viewing trip, and you actually make an offer, it will take approximately two weeks for all the documentation to be prepared.

When you are informed that all the paperwork is
ready you can either arrange to return to sign the
contract and pay the 10% deposit or it can be done by fax and bank transfer – this must take place within 10 days of the notification.

If all goes smoothly a ready-built property could
be yours within 2 months, for new-build, allow 8 to
10 months but, as with property purchase in England, there is always the possibility of unforeseen problems cropping up. Here again, our experienced staff will be on hand to advise and guide you through any difficulties which may occur.
